For the most stable and efficient shot, keep the following tips in mind:
- Shoot with the hunting tripod while in a sitting or squatting position. By sitting you have more stability than standing. Further, you have less of a chance being spotted by the animal. Kneeling is not quite as steady as sitting and can be uncomfortable and harsh on your knees over longer periods of time.
- Use a sand bag to level set the tripod. By hanging a bag of sand or some type of weight from the center of the tripod where the three legs meet, that will help to stabilize the stand and keep your shot consistent.
- Get in a comfortable position. The more comfortable you are, the more at ease your body will be and it will allow for a cleaner shot. If you are going to be out in the field for long periods of time you should consider using a hunting bind, which will allow you to stand, stretch, and walk around without being spotted.
